The Evermorian Pantheon

Basic Overview- The pantheon consists of twenty deities. There are three deities attached to each of the six colors of magic, representing the good, neutral, and evil elements of each color. Each of the disciplines is kept in balance much the same way as a child’s see-saw: Good and evil on opposite ends with the neutral deity acting as the fulcrum. The gray gods are the exception, as they are three neutral gods. If any of the three goes out of balance, it disrupts the entire scheme. On the same level, the hexagon of the six disciplines must remain in balance. Any disturbance will disrupt the balance of the entire pantheon. Overlooking the entire pantheon are the two major deities, representing the basic duality of all things, benevolent and malevolent. They are antagonistic. There is a constant struggle between the two to bring Evermore into one side of the coin or the other. But at the same time, both realize that the other is just as important to the balance of the world.

The Overman- Human Title. The benevolent of the two main deities. Assumes a different form for each person who views it, consequently each race has a different name and depiction of the god. The depiction almost always is of a form of that particular race. Ex: The Kirrans see it as a female cat warrior, golden-furred with a single black stripe running from nose tip to tail tip, wearing the traditional eagle and crow feathers on the ears and bamboo chest armor, carrying a barbed spear. The deity is called Kirri. The general human description is of an older man with long white hair and a beard to match, wearing white robes with silver and gold markings.

The Underman- Human Title. The malevolent of the two main deities. Like the Overman, each race has named it differently, but unlike the Overman, it only has one form, but no mortal has seen it. The Underman appears cloaked and hooded, with only its eyes and a single arm visible. The eyes are only visible because they appear as two bright red rings floating in a sea of black. The Underman’s visible arm is long and slender, gray-skinned with claw-like fingers. He holds a torch aloft. The prevalent myth among many of the races on Evermore is that when you die, the Underman appears to you and you see the torch extinguished, signifying your life’s flame going out. Then, if the Overman appears and re-lights the flame, you are allowed into Paradise. If not, you spend an eternity as one of the Underman’s minions.

WHITE GODS

Good: Jolea, the Maiden God. Jolea represents innocence and virtue. Clad in robes made of the purest white lamb’s wool, she takes the form of a beautiful young maiden when she manifests herself on Evermore. She is one of the twin daughters of Jovan.

Neutral: Jovan, the Paladin God. Jovan represents honor, loyalty, and truth, as well as obstinacy and vainglory. Jovan manifests himself as a knight in brilliant silver armor, carrying an enormous silver claymore and a mirrored shield. He rides a white horse. Has twin daughters, Jolea and Jovan, and is also the father of Qu’uras.

Evil: Jovita, the Zealot. Representing fanaticism, Jovita manifests herself as Jolea’s identical twin. She often walks the face of Evermore preaching to the mortal races, trying to convert them to the worship of her father, Jovan, to the exclusion of all other deities..

BLACK GODS

Good: Qu’uras, the God of Redemption. Qu’uras is the deity that watches over those who have made past mistakes and are attempting to right their own wrongs, or are making up for them in some way. He is the product of an affair between Jovan and Brenna and is now torn between aligning himself with either of his two parents.

Neutral: Taymar, the Seer. Manifests himself as a middle-aged wizard in black robes, carrying a crystal globe. Allows mortals to see bits and pieces of their own future, which can be beneficial or detrimental, giving birth to the phrase “Taymar’s Gamble.”

Evil: Brenna, the Seductress. Also called the Underman’s daughter, she manifests herself as a raven-haired beauty and manipulates men and women in positions of power throughout Evermore, drawing worship to herself at the sacrifice of her subjects.

RED GODS

Good: Ka-Shin, the Dwarven God. Manifests as a dwarf with a smith’s hammer. Known as the weaponsmith of the gods. Dwarves’ main god.

Neutral: Infernus. Simply a being of flame, both destructive and beneficial.

Evil: Issaka, the God of Malice. Represents anger and most other types of destructive forces. Manifests as a roc.

GREEN GODS

Good: Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life. The first god created by the Overman, it gave birth to the entire pantheon of gods -except those who are the children of other deities- and therefore all of Evermore. The main deity of the elves.

Neutral: Ouroburos. Depicted as a snake eating its own tail, it represents both the destructive forces of nature, as it is devouring itself, as well as the sustaining forces of nature, as by devouring itself, it is nourishing its body as well.

Evil: Quezza, the Plague. Manifests as a decomposed body, Quezza is responsible for all illnesses on Evermore.

AQUA GODS

Good: Dayepos, the Mariner. Manifests as a grizzled sea captain. White hair, eyebrows, and perpetually short beard, as if he had just left shore. The patron god of all sailors, regardless of race. When a sailor dies, they pray to become one of Dayepos’ crew. His ship is called the “Ferrier,” often delivering souls to the Underman’s domain.

Neutral: Sacha, the God of the Tides: Manifests as a female sea elf, or mermaid to humans. She controls the tides and the movement of all bodies of water in general, which can lead to floods or tsunamis, but is also necessary for fishing and irrigation.

Evil: Maha, the God of Storms. Manifests as a small girl, possibly around 6 years of age. She is fickle and can change moods at the drop of a hat. When she feels good, the seas are calm, but if she gets mad, or sad, or anything else, she takes it out on the sea and anyone who happens to be sailing at the time.

GRAY GODS:

Helios, the God of the Sun.

Luna, the Goddess of the Moon

The Cosmos, which are the stars in the night sky. They are considered the children of Helios and Luna, and are collectively recognized as a single deity. Different races have attached different stories to the individual stars.
